Dan Gooder Richard
is the creator of the RAINMAKER LEAD SYSTEM® now in use
by thousands of real estate professionals nationwide. Dan is a publisher,
consultant, and speaker. He and his wife, Synnöve Granholm, founded
GOODER GROUP® in 1983 and continue to manage the Fairfax, Virginia-based
publisher of marketing materials for real estate and mortgage professionals. GOODER GROUP currently publishes two monthly printed newsletters and three e-newsletters for prospecting and an extensive series of marketing tools including RAINMAKER E-CENTRAL® (website content and automated e-mail), and handbooks, brochures, postcards, and more, all designed for lead generation, prospect follow-up and long-term contact. More than 12,000 real estate and mortgage salespeople in the United States and Canada use GOODER GROUP marketing products every year. Annually, GOODER GROUP's customers purchase and distribute millions of units of GOODER GROUP products. As one of the real estate industry's leading authorities in marketing and lead management since 1979, Dan has decades of experience at "making the phone ring" for real estate professionals. With a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri (Columbia), Dan began his marketing career in 1979 as the first director of marketing for Long & Foster Real Estate, one of the largest real estate brokerages in the country. In five years with Long & Foster, he directed the corporate marketing effort and helped the company grow from 900 agents to 2,400 agents, from 30 offices to 59 offices, and from $859 million in sales to $2.4 billion in sales. (In 2011, total sales for all Long & Foster Companies exceeded $42 billion and helped 69,000 people buy and sell homes.) Dan's first book, REAL ESTATE RAINMAKER®: Successful Strategies for Real Estate Marketing, was published by John Wiley & Sons in 2000. Dan's middle name comes from his maternal grandfather, Leslie MacDonald Gooder, who was a publisher in Chicago from the early 1910s through the 1950s. Dan is carrying on the family name in publishing. Born in Davenport, Iowa, in 1947, Dan now lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his Finnish-born wife, Synnöve Granholm.
